When the Modern Malayalam Version of the Holy Bible was released on the 22nd of December, 2000,\u00c2\u00a0 I had great expectations of its acceptance as it was the first of its kind with so many firsts attached to it in the 2000 year old history of the St.Thomas Christians of India.<\/p>\n
Why should they appreciate ???<\/strong><\/p>\n This was the only Bible which was published in modern Malayalam in the nine decade history of the Bible in the Malayalam language. Though its\u00a0 fonts had changed and the language had made tremendous progress, Christians in Kerala were using the old Bible as nothing else was available. In this Bible, variations from the ancient manuscripts were plenty but the Pundits remained silent. It was my prayer and desire that the Word of God should be easily understood by the readers irrespective of whether they are 8 or 80. So I prepared the first study Bible in Malayalam, the Vishudha Satya Vedapusthakam, with 26 features to help and aid the common man. The 1139 Chapters of the Bible were divided further into 2000 sections with a subtitle for each section, and a sub title index was included in the Bible so that any topic or incident could be found in a moment, making it the only Bible in any Indian language to have this feature.<\/p>\n But no appreciation came from the Christian Churches or leaders ? WHY ???<\/strong><\/p>\n Some thought that I will take away their glory ;few others thought that it would affect their business as they were partners and officials of the Bible Society; there were still others claiming to be\u00a0 full of the\u00a0Holy Spirit who said they couldn’t accept it as I had not taken adult baptism; some church\u00a0 leaders forced Christian book stores to avoid this Bible and for the last 9 years I was refused even a space of 100 sq ft for a Bible booth by a church which holds a mega convention annually.<\/p>\n And the end result ???<\/strong><\/p>\n I had to leave the country\u00a0where I stayed for 24 years …Pulp tabloids did their best to malign not only me but also my mentor and my spiritual sister because they\u00a0stood with me. Some members of the clergy gave sermons by reading these newspapers… My kith and kin too were not happy because I had brought shame to them . My mother had a silent tear in her eyes because people in my parent church were criticizing me. Raaji (my wife) stood by me without ever making a complaint even when we became jobless overnight and had to leave the country of our residence for 24 years… Our children’s education were disrupted…My house in Trivandrum was stoned… Complaints were given against me to the highest authority in the police department. A bishop of my parent church said that God had finally heard his prayers and had punished me.<\/p>\n But my God never let me down. Jesus was with me in all these storms. Many in the ministry fell into the snares of Satan but God allowed a small remnant to be with me. No awards ! No rewards ! Though His overseers on earth didn’t even want to meet me, He was and is always with me… using this foolish man more and more … holding Gospel Festivals in metropolitan cities… giving away tens of thousands of Bibles to the Bibleless… establishing Bible Towers (Christian Book stores), Publishing the Worship Bible (Bible with 150 Christian Hymns), presenting the New Testament to the ethnic tribe Paniyas in their Paniya language and presenting the Gospel of Mark in the Jennu Kurumba language to the ethnic Jennu Kurumba tribe for the first time in history of the world… penning and tuning more than 180 Christian hymns …<\/p>\n And today<\/strong> … 2983 days after the storms had hit, my God has honored me at the\u00a0 International Christian Retail Show Luncheon, where Mr. Jim Powell, president of the CTAI\u00a0 introduced\u00a0 ‘THE CHRISTIAN WALK BIBLE’<\/strong>\u00a0(my toil for the last 8 years) as the first English Study Bible from Asia. I was given the opportunity to address the gathering and \u00c2\u00a0Mr. Sylvester Ebeh,\u00a0Chairman of the CTAI released ‘The Christian Walk Bible’<\/strong> with prayer for the glory of His Kingdom, in the presence of distinguished guests from many countries of the world , including the great servant of God, Reinhard Bonnke.
